AUGUSTA, Ga. – Cal State Dominguez Hills sophomore guard Jeremy Dent-Smith has been named the Men’s Basketball Division II Player of the Week by the D2CIDA. Dent-Smith led the Toros to a pair of conference wins last week, averaging 34.5 points per game.

A native of Hawthorne, Calif., Dent-Smith scored 41 points in a 101-87 road overtime win at Cal Poly Pomona. That is one point shy of the school record, and he tied another school mark with nine made 3-pointers. Playing 41 minutes, he hit 9-of-13 3-pointers with four steals and four assists, becoming only the fifth CCAA player since 2013 to go for 40 or more. He followed that with 28 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a win over Cal State San Bernardino. For the week, he shot 65 percent from the field, 67 percent from long range and added 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game.

Dent-Smith is currently second in the CCAA in scoring at 16.1 points per game. He is also fourth in the league in free throw percentage, eighth in field goal percentage, fifth in 3-pointers made per game and 11th in steals.

The Division II Player of the Week is selected by the Division II Conference Information Directors Association (D2CIDA). A complete list of weekly award winners can be found here.
